Using Shaker construction technique rarely used in today's manufacturing processes is "interlocking joinery". The front frame and back frame of the chairs and rockers are assembled separately. When these two parts are clamped together, the boring on each frame notches the dowel on the front post and back post making it near impossible for the front assembly or the back assembly to be pulled apart. Using swelled joint construction and interlocking joinery assures our customers the furniture they purchase is built for lifetimes of use.
Introducing our Cottage Ladder Back Chair. We often have to be held back from purchasing every magazine on the shelf with reference to cottage living. Crazy about the cottage look as we are; we have always felt that our chairs and rockers lend themselves to cottage living! However, we felt we needed a new fresh addition! Meet no. 19 and 19T Cottage Ladder Back. The same size as the 15L Farm House Chair and the 17 Martha Washington Ladder Back Chair; both sizes have a steam bent back with flattened back posts for optimum comfort. The 19 was tested by Bureau Veritas a national testing facility for weight capacity and came in withstanding 1,000 pounds. We have always known our chairs were durable and this test reminded us that we should be promoting our durability!

I was pleasantly surprised by the construction of these chairs, they are very solid the joints appear to be well fitted. I would almost say they are kid proof, I bought these unfinished but they will require very little sanding to finish.
